Collecting
Txs and Triffids at the end of an event
The
detail of how the Txs have been programmed for transmissions after the machine gun of dots sounds:
Times within each 10 minute period are shown across the top.
The first ten
minute cycle will actually start at 1:00 minute, the
first 30 seconds being taken up by the machine gun, the next 30 seconds
by silence. It appears as though all Txs are often on at the same time, however,
after the machine gun, the majority, should be switched
off. If several are yet to be collected then there may be doubling but,
within your chain, Txs should be close and strong enough to be
identified, if not, wait until they transmit on their own.
The doubling is tolerated in order to raise awareness that there is a
problem before people start to walk back to the car park.
The three chains are
A, B, C. F, G, H.
K, L,
M. Txs within the same chain come
on at the same times but on different frequencies - 1960, 1930, 1915 kHz
Example - Suppose
your Joker is G:
Your chain is F G H. Notice these
Txs
are on three different frequencies but use the same time slots.
Assuming
all is well and you don't need assistance you will turn off Tx G
(1930 kHz) during the silence after the machine gun of dots.
The other two Txs in your chain are F (1960 kHz) and H (1915 kHz), keep
switching between these two frequencies for long enough that you are
sure you weren't checking when they were off - if nothing is heard on
either frequency in 2 minutes you should be ok to return to the car
park. Of course an occasional scan of the three frequencies as
you pass other areas may reveal someone from another chain in need of
help.
