With Covid still lurking, like most of the year's events, the usual pub visit was replaced by an on site picnic.

10 Txs and associated triffids provided the amusement.

The event was scheduled for the 31st of October but with warnings of heavy rain, I decided to delay for a week. Fortunately all those who had booked in were able to attend, along with a couple of others who couldn't make the original date.

My first thought was to have a central start (with a walk from the car park) and a spread of Txs over a larger area, including some needing roads to be crossed.

However, on the Saturday I found that the main paths were very muddy and hard work, which caused a rare feeling of pity for my fellow DFers (advancing years?) and distances were reduced.

Despite the mud on the paths, I had a very pleasant day finding/constructing hides for the Txs and Triffids. There were loads of paths not shown on the map, good for my confusion at least, several times I had to consult my GPS to make sense of where I was.  I had lots of company, families with young children, dogs with walkers and muntjac deer - which had probably created some of the extra paths.  I had arrived on site at 10:00 am but, with all the exploration and explanations as to what I was doing in bushes (my daughter tells me I should get a dog, or at least a dog lead), it was gone 3:00 pm before I had time for sandwiches and a rest in the car.  At 3:30 pm it was a relief to hear all 10 Txs running their first test sequence, would the new silica gel packs keep them dry for a night in the soggy undergrowth?

Sunday morning 11:00 am .... Yes, all Txs came on for their 2nd brief test, fingers crossed that all the Triffids are OK too.

Here we go ....

Lots of smiles and clean feet - will they last?

Txs were due to start half an hour earlier than usual at 13:00 ...

....  there were two extra Txs on for Rx/brain checking from 12:00.

13:40 Gary - leaving the ghost having already found A,B, &C

Philip close on his heels, coming from the same joker group.
Clearly I should have made this harder!

It's getting crowded near F

It's behind you

The Triffid at F was supposed to be easy  but caused several people a problem (enforced rest from running), can you spot it ?

Answer at the bottom of report - obvious isn't it - Catherine spotted it from twice this distance.

L, the only Tx where Philip spots the Triffid before eagle eye Gary.
Was it a shoelace malfunction?

Well done Tim, with no Boris present, I had to bestow the honours

Colin 2nd, playing the under-arm game.

George 3rd,  pleased to have found all 10 for the first time, with
2 minutes and 24 seconds to spare at his joker, nearly spiced!

Heroic past - Colin should have held the trophy physically from 13/06/21 until 3/10/21, finally he got his hands on it. ...

......  but  life is a struggle at the top .....

.... especially when this guy is around, well done again Gary.
