 mmap.JPG (100458 bytes)Location of the two stations A & B.

If there had been a Station C many teams would have found it!

Setting up Station B in Harwich.

The Cliff Park is adjacent to a disused WW2 military base.

It has been fenced off for safety, but the locals have knocked holes in the fence and all still use it freely.

To be fair the TX was located outside the fence but there was around 300 m of aerial inside - well you can be too fair!

mloc1.JPG (69478 bytes) The red arrow marks the location of the TX in an underground bunker.

ment.JPG (155200 bytes) The entrance to the bunker.

Once inside the tunnel it was completely black.

mtx.JPG (29097 bytes)   However with the magic of flash here is the Transmitter.

Note chair, all very civilized and mostly out of the wind and rain. (The ceiling dripped - something).

mpole.JPG (95611 bytes) Caption competition - A committed Dfer?

A chance for more aerial.  Three poles used to link phones to the old military site.

These ran away from the site across the park. An earth stake at the end helped to guide

competitors away from the bunker.

There were several buildings located outside the fence but LOADS inside.

A whole day was spent running aerial around the buildings to encourage exploration.

Note the low moon!

maent.JPG (165739 bytes)  Finally back to the bunker, the arrow helps you see the aerial entering a ventilation duct.

Competitors may have found a red arrow useful on the day.

Some did find a way in. Lots of people made piteous cries of "Are you in there?"

Surely they didn't expect a reply until they showed a bit of spirit and entered the gloom.

Depending on how nice they had been to the TX operator on previous DFs they were either helped

to make there final steps with a gentle torch on their feet or  a BLINDING camera flash in the eyes.

Which category do you think these three come in?

Sadly at 4pm it was all over.

mwintm.JPG (107595 bytes)  The winning team in action.

Why is it that the operators (Tim & Roy) have more scars than the competitors?
