INTRODUCTION
TO BRIGHTLINGSEA MODEL FLYING CLUB
TYPES OF MODELS
Our neighbours dictate that we have to
be very quiet! However, this still allows
us to have a great deal of fun flying gliders and quiet electrics.
High speed, attention grabbing models are not appropriate in this
peaceful, relaxing environment.
CLUB ACTIVITIES
Many of our members are retired and a
quick phone call will usually find someone to go thermal hunting with.
Gliders are launched by bungee, winch or electric aerotow.
In addition to fixed wing we also have a few helicopters and autogyros
(all electric of course!)
We run both monthly and annual competitions for glider and electric
soaring.
Meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month in St. Osyth
Village Hall, these sessions also allow for some indoor flying.
Each March we hold a nationally advertised swapmeet.
SITE The location varies according to the farmer's crop rotation but is in the Weeley area; contact us to find out more.
Our flying membership is limited to 16 by the land owner, this is regrettable (see below) but it does allow us to allocate each member one 35MHz frequency for their exclusive use. Of course 2.4GHz is no problem.
FLYING SCHEDULES
Being
a small club, just turning up and expecting others to be there doesn't
work, flying sessions are arranged by email and phone.
MEMBERSHIP
We have far more requests for membership than we can satisfy; previously we maintained a long .... waiting list but this denied beginners the attention they deserved. Applications are now reviewed each December ready for the next year, preference will be given to beginners or those who particularly enjoy our style of flying. Follow this link for the current situation.
We regret that we can not cater for more people, if you would like our help in contacting other local clubs or wish to contact us for some other reason please leave your details here.
